Report Design: Youth Voices

Report Design | Indigenous Youth Voices of East Vancouver
Client: Aboriginal Life in Vancouver Enhancement (ALIVE)

Youth Voices is a thoughtfully crafted report that amplifies the perspectives of Indigenous urban youth in Vancouver, bringing forward their insights on community, identity, and the spaces they navigate. The design approach balances expressive visual storytelling with a strong editorial structure, resulting in a publication that feels both contemporary and grounded in purpose.

The visual language draws from Indigenous-inspired patterns and motifs, woven throughout the cover and interior spreads to create a cohesive and culturally respectful aesthetic. Rich, flowing textures and bold colour gradients establish an energetic and youthful tone, while still supporting the seriousness and credibility of the content. Typography is handled with care, pairing strong, modern display type with clean, highly readable body text to guide the reader comfortably through complex topics.

Inside the report, content is organized with clarity and intention. Thoughtful use of hierarchy, spacing, and callout sections allows key messages to stand out, while maintaining a steady reading rhythm. Illustrations and graphic elements are used sparingly but effectively, adding visual interest and reinforcing themes without overwhelming the narrative.

This project reflects a commitment to both design excellence and meaningful storytelling. It creates a platform where youth voices are not only heard but respected, presenting their experiences in a way that is engaging, accessible, and professionally executed.
