Slide Deck Presentation Design

Slide Deck Design | Youth Voices of East Vancouver
Client: Aboriginal Life in Vancouver Enhancement (ALIVE)

This slide deck design was created to do something powerful: make space for youth voices within Vancouver’s urban Indigenous community and make sure those voices were heard clearly, confidently, and with respect.

Developed by KAPOW Creative for Aboriginal Life in Vancouver Enhancement (ALIVE), this PowerPoint deck supports presentations that explore Indigenous self-governance, youth leadership, and community-driven recommendations. From the outset, the goal was to strike a careful balance: create a modern, engaging presentation that feels culturally grounded, while avoiding visual clichés or stereotypes that can undermine credibility.

Culture sits at the heart of this design. The visual language draws from Indigenous-inspired patterns, illustration styles, and symbolism, used thoughtfully and intentionally rather than decoratively. The result is a design that feels authentic and rooted, while still clean, contemporary, and professional, supporting the seriousness of the subject matter and the importance of the youth perspectives being shared.

Clarity and ease of use were equally important. The deck was designed to work for presenters, not against them. Clear hierarchy, strong typography, and well-paced layouts ensure complex ideas like governance, rights, and policy recommendations are easy to follow at a glance. Bold headings, concise copy areas, and supportive visuals guide audiences through the story without overwhelming them.

From an on-brand perspective, every slide reinforces ALIVE’s mission and voice. The consistent colour palette, illustration style, and graphic elements create a cohesive experience that feels purposeful and polished, whether the deck is used in community meetings, stakeholder presentations, or policy discussions.
